Amma therapy is a comprehensive system of bodywork developed by Tina Sohn, an empathic healer born into a long, matriarchal line of healers in Korea, and brought to America in the 70's. Utilizing traditional oriental medical principles, (TCM), where therapeutic body work has been an integral part of medical treatment for thousands of years, AMMA aims to restore, promote, and maintain optimum health through the treatment of the physical body, the bio-energy, and the emotions, which reflect and are bound into the neuromuscular system. AMMA may be used to address a wide range of chronic health issues.
Each internal organ and system is related to a specific channel, or meridian, which has points of entry that effect specific functions. Harmonizing an imbalance in the energy system manifests beneficial change in the physical body and vice versa.
Amma employs aspects of most major forms of therapeutic bodywork. Gentle compression, myofascial techniques, deep pressure, point manipulation, increasing range of motion and various other techniques to relieve tension, move energy and and rejuvenate tissue.
Cupping and Massage

Cupping is an ancient technique found in many culture throughout the world. Cupping is the use of gentle suction, or negative pressure which has many applications in a bodywork session. Cupping brings rejuvenating blood flow to deprived areas relieving spasm, breaking and dissolving adhesions in the tissue, dispersing muscles 'knots' or 'trigger points', increasing range of motion all with less trauma that can be achieved by hand. Massage cupping gently lifts the skin to facilitate lymph flow and drainage. This technique can be scheduled separately and as part of a full 1 1/2 hour massage session.
